Chromplating - Chrome solution

Product information "Chromplating - Chrome solution"

Chrome electrolyte - chrome plating with Betzmann Galvanik

Chrome plating by yourself with high-quality chrome electrolyte from Betzmann Galvanik

A layer of chromium protects a wide variety of components from oxidation and corrosion. In addition, the workpiece is given a visually appealing appearance. Our electrolyte is based on chrome(III). While chromium(VI) was originally used in the industrial process, chromium(III) electrolytes are increasingly being used because they have a significantly lower impact on man and nature. This electrolyte contains all our know-how - we were able to make it significantly brighter and more efficient. Current densities up to 20A/dm² can be achieved.

Usually chrome is deposited in the layer system copper - nickel - chrome. The intermediate layer of nickel provides additional protection against corrosion, as chrome layers show microcracks. T

Of course, the chrome electrolyte is suitable for all processes such as bath electroplating and pen plating (or pad plating).

When chromium plating, always wear the necessary protective equipment such as safety goggles, gloves and protective clothing and only work in a well-ventilated room.

Parameters (these may vary, please test):

Bath electroplating: 1.5-6V (approx. 3V recommended at 10cm distance)

pin plating: 3-7V (approx. 4-5V recommended)

Current density: 4-24A/dm² (up to 50A/dm² with bath movement)

Working temperature 20-50°C (25°C recommended)

deposition rate: 0.06µm/min at 10A/dm²

The most important advantages at a glance:

is equally suitable for bath electroplating and pen plating / pad plating

high adhesive strength and abrasion resistance

high hardness up to 1200 HV

extremely large current density range

appealing optics

Color of the chrome layer is very similar to the result of hexavalent chrome baths

heating of the electrolyte is not necessary (temperature range 15-50°C, preferably 15-30°C)

high reflection and beautiful gloss

higher permissible metal impurities than with other processes, thus easier to use

To achieve a perfect result with the chrome electrolyte, the appropriate anodes are required for the galvanic process used. Anodes made of aluminum, platinized titanium, platinum or iridium are recommended. For pen plating, graphite, nickel or stainless steel anodes can be used if necessary. With nickel or stainless steel anodes, however, it is important to ensure that the pad is washed out well in between so that the metal contamination that arises does not contaminate the electrolyte and the chromium layer.

Aluminium anodes have proven to be particularly advantageous, they are particularly cost-effective and the electrolyte retains its excellent color. If you do not have any, we recommend that you order them directly from us.

Anode sleeve fuzzy
Anode pad / tampon / anode sleeve / fuzzy sleeve / replacement fabric pad puffy from Betzmann Galvanik.    This puffy fabric pad / anode sleeve or also called tampon is absolutely recommended for all plating processes. Optimally suitable for all coatings and electrolytes.  The coating of larger areas is also quite fast with this pad.   The insertion hole is larger than the electrode and therefore it happens that the moist  anode pad slips off. Therefore, fix the pad on the electrode with a small rubber band.

Nickelstripper
Nickel stripper strips nickel plating from steel, copper, brass and silver easily and delivers the following pluses; Ready-to-use solution: no need for mixing Low hazzard Stripping rates of up to 50 microns per hour at 62 °C High capacity (1 litre can strip 40 grams of nickel) Low odour: minimum ventilation needed Supplied as a one-component, ready-to-use solution Non-electrolytic stripper: no need for a separate rectifier Long bath life Can be shipped worldwide Operating Conditions Temperature Range 50 -65 °C (see notes) Tank Glass (see notes below), steel or polypropylene Agitation Mechanical (stirrer). Never use air agitation Stripping rate See notes below Stripping capacity Can strip up to 40 grams of nickel per litre Special storage requirements None Shelf life 1 – 2 years Health and Safety classification Irritant Special considerations None Transport (UN number) None: Not classified as dangerous for transport   Notes: Tanks should be made of stainless steel, polypropylene or glass. If using glass, return the solution (cooled) to the container after use. Heating should be provided by a Teflon-coated stirring bar (if stripping in a beaker). For larger installations, stainless steel or titanium-sheaved heaters should be used. Stripping rates can be almost doubled by using light mechanical agitation: Stripping rate at 50°C = 10  microns per hour (no agitation) Stripping rate at 50°C = 17  microns per hour (with agitation) Stripping rate at 62°C = 50 microns per hour (with agitation) Black smut remaining can be removed by ultrasonic cleaning or scouring with pad.     Nickelentferner  GHS07 - Signal word: Caution   H-phrases: H317: May cause an allergic skin reaction.
