Nickel Business

Product information "Nickel Business"

Product information Betzmann Galvanik - nickel electrolyte - commercial - business

Solution for galvanic nickel plating of objects. With this solution objects can be nickel plated very easily.

With this solution shiny nickel layers (mirror finish) can be deposited quickly.

Suitable for pin electroplating and bath electroplating.

Due to the very high nickel concentration of 60g/l, this has a high deposition rate.

This nickel electrolyte may only be sold to commercial customers and under submission of an end-use declaration. Without submission of a business registration and end-use declaration no delivery will be made!

Please request these by email at info@betzmann-galvanik.de.

Nickel plating is one of the most important processes in the industry.

Galvanic nickel plating enables durable and wear-resistant coating of metallic or conductive surfaces. Furthermore, nickel coatings are convincing in that they are resistant to corrosion and have good solderability.

With our Betzmann Electroplating - Nickel Electrolyte you can produce electroplated nickel coatings yourself.

Depending on the material of the workpiece as well as the detailed nickel plating procedure, you will achieve the following results:

reliable corrosion protection by a layer combination such as copper-nickel

chemically resistant protective coating against diluted acids, alkalis as well as air and water

diffusion protection for subsequent electroplating

decorative protective coating with a high-gloss surface, which also serves as wear protection.

As an electroplating nickel electrolyte, our product is suitable for bath electroplating as well as for pin electroplating (pad electroplating). During nickel plating, the magnetic properties of the workpiece are retained and it exhibits a high-gloss silver-like color with a subtle yellow tint. Just as convincing as the end result is the high deposition rate exhibited by the nickel electrolyte.

If you are nickel-plating a complexly designed workpiece with curves and inner surfaces, we recommend the uncomplicated electroless nickel plating process.

Electroless nickel - decorative or protective coating

If a simply shaped workpiece or component is to be provided with a protective layer, we recommend the combination of copper and nickel. In this way, you immediately achieve reliable corrosion protection, which you would otherwise only achieve with pure nickel plating with a layer thickness of 25 to 50 µm. Only at these thicknesses does the coating have the required freedom from pores, since nickel electrolytes always deposit with fine pores.

However, electroplated nickel not only protects against corrosion. The coating, which is uncomplicated to apply, is highly resistant to dilute acids and alkalis and serves as wear protection.

If several electroplating steps with layers of different metals are planned, an electroplated nickel electrolyte can be used as a barrier layer. In this way, you prevent diffusion or color mixing of different layers. In all processes, it is irrelevant whether you use our nickel electrolyte for bath electroplating or pin electroplating (pad electroplating).

For decorative plating, the combination of bright nickel and chrome is ideal for reliably achieving flat surfaces, although pure bright nickel plating may be sufficient depending on the application.

Application notes for our nickel electrolyte (bright nickel)

The high-performance nickel electrolyte for self-nickel plating is preferably processed at room temperature in the range of 15 to 30 °C. It is suitable for all common metals. It is suitable for all common metals, semi-precious and precious metals with the exception of aluminum, chromium and titanium.

If you plan to nickel plate stainless steel yourself, please be sure to use a nickel strike, X-gold or gold flash for pretreatment to increase adhesion!

Before galvanic nickel plating, clean the workpiece particularly thoroughly. Remove rust completely and degrease the component, e.g. with alcohol. Be sure to work with clean disposable gloves to avoid transferring skin grease to the workpiece.

Please observe the following recommendations, depending on the electroplating method used:

Palladium 10 Gramm per Liter
Palladium Solution from Betzmann Galvanik with 10 Gramm per Liter - as nickel substitute - barrier layer or as hard decorative top layer!    Palladium electrolyte - The allergen-free alternative to nickel! Palladinizing or plating with palladium is a rather rarely used galvanic coating. However, palladium plating can offer some advantages, especially as a substitute for galvanic nickel plating with a nickel electrolyte.  The advantages of palladium electrolyte compared to electroless nickel plating: Typically, a nickel electrolyte is used to apply a barrier layer of nickel between copper and gold, preventing the two metals from mixing. However, a palladium plating offers several distinct advantages over the nickel electrolyte: Palladium is more noble than nickel, meaning there is no surface corrosion, and the palladium does NOT require extra activation prior to gold plating as nickel does. The deposition rate and efficiency are excellent, i.e. there is no unwanted gas evolution. The electrolyte deposits silvery white, very bright palladium which can be used as a bright "finish". Gold plating with the Betzmann gold electrolyte for pin electroplating achieves an optimum result on palladium. In contrast to nickel electrolyte, palladium is not carcinogenic and is therefore also permitted for private users!  A very good combination for gold plating of almost all metals is:  Alkaline or acid copper depending on the metal, palladium and finally gold.  All necessary electrolytes are available in our store. Palladium can be plated on the following metals:  Copper, nickel, brass, silver, gold, on all dechromed surfaces.   Recommended voltages:  Pen - Brush electroplating: from 3 volts - Bath electroplating: 3 - 4 volts. Recommended is graphite electrode or platinum electrode from our store. Palladium content: 10 grams per liter   Main benefits;  Makes a great alternative to rhodium plating giving an authentic 18 carat white gold or platinum plated look. palladium plating solution (unlike rhodium) doesn’t etch materials made of calcium carbonate such as pearl and coral, so you won’t have to worry about masking out these materials before submerging them in your palladium plating bath. can be used as a substitute for nickel as a barrier layer for gold plating on copper and its alloys. can be used as an alternative to silver as it doesn’t tarnish and is hard-wearing. Very low porosity – excellent for corrosion protection. Readily wettable by solder and dissolves a lot more slowly than gold in the solder making it an excellent top coat over gold for electrical contacts. Anode sleeve fuzzy
Anode pad / tampon / anode sleeve / fuzzy sleeve / replacement fabric pad puffy from Betzmann Galvanik.    This puffy fabric pad / anode sleeve or also called tampon is absolutely recommended for all plating processes. Optimally suitable for all coatings and electrolytes.  The coating of larger areas is also quite fast with this pad.   The insertion hole is larger than the electrode and therefore it happens that the moist  anode pad slips off. Therefore, fix the pad on the electrode with a small rubber band.

Conductive copper lacquer
Conductive copper lacquer from Betzmann Galvanik Real Gold    Copper conductive lacquer from Betzmann Galvanik    Product information copper conductive lacquer Article description: The copper conductive lacquer from Betzmann Galvanik at a glance:   50 or 200 ml copper conductive lacquer for electroplating for airbrush and brush non-conductive objects can be made conductive plants and natural objects can be electroplated easy and filigree application possible With the copper-based Galvano conductive lacquer from Betzmann Galvanik, you can coat works of art and gifts made of glass, ceramics, plastic and many other materials with a shiny layer of metal even in a short time. Perfect as an exclusive gift or for your own showcase! Also very suitable as a decorative varnish due to the strong gloss effect.   Simply apply the copper conductive lacquer thinly with a brush on the cleaned surface. The copper conductive lacquer dries smudge-proof within 10 to 15 minutes and thus allows a quick processing of the workpieces. Complete drying for optimum hold on stressed surfaces takes approximately 12 - 36 hours at room temperature. The varnish can be thinned with butyl acetate or isopropanol. The next step is to connect the item with a wire and copperplate it in the acidic bright copper electrolyte from our store. A robust layer of copper will then be deposited. In the last step you can still nickel, silver and also gold or chrome plating the copper!   Due to its lower price and high electrical and thermal conductivity, the copper conductive lacquer is thus the perfect alternative to silver conductive lacquer. Please note that copper plating must be carried out in the acidic copper electrolyte in the first step, as this activates the conductive lacquer. After copper plating, the metal layer is abrasion-resistant.   Suitable materials: plastic, glass, ceramics, plants, wood and many other electrically non-conductive materials.   Drying time: 5-15 minutes (smudge-proof), 1-3 days (complete for maximum demands)   20 mL is enough for an area of up to one square meter - so very productive!
