Anode pad / tampon / anode sleeve / fuzzy sleeve / replacement fabric pad puffy from Betzmann Galvanik. This puffy fabric pad / anode sleeve or also called tampon is absolutely recommended for all plating processes. Optimally suitable for all coatings and electrolytes. The coating of larger areas is also quite fast with this pad. The insertion hole is larger than the electrode and therefore it happens that the moist anode pad slips off. Therefore, fix the pad on the electrode with a small rubber band.

Black Ruthenium Electrolyte BMG‑089M Decorative black ruthenium plating solution for dark metallic surfaces Short Description The Black Ruthenium Electrolyte BMG‑089M is a high-quality electroplating solution designed for the deposition of dark gray to black ruthenium layers on conductive metal surfaces. It produces a uniform, dark metallic finish with subtle reflections and is suitable for both decorative and functional applications. The solution can be used in tank, brush, and pen/peg plating and provides attractive, wear-resistant ruthenium coatings when applied correctly. Applications Black ruthenium plating is used to: Create decorative effects (e.g., jewelry, eyewear, accessories) Achieve elegant dark metallic surfaces Provide functional coatings with good abrasion and corrosion resistance Produce contrast effects in multi-layer plating systems Apply via tank, brush, or pen/peg plating for versatile use The dark appearance of ruthenium is a stylish alternative to traditional surfaces like silver or gold and is ideal for modern design and jewelry items. How Black Ruthenium Plating Works (Simple Explanation) Black ruthenium plating is performed through electrolytic deposition: Surface Preparation: Clean, degrease, and dry the workpiece. Activation: Chemically activate the surface if needed to ensure optimal adhesion. Plating: Apply direct current; ruthenium is reduced from the solution and forms a dark metallic layer on the surface. Finishing: Rinse and dry the plated part – the layer shows a consistent dark metallic appearance. The color intensity can be adjusted by tuning process parameters, ranging from deep gray to near-black. Benefits of Black Ruthenium Electrolyte BMG‑089M Dark gray to black metallic finish High abrasion and corrosion resistance Decorative look for jewelry, accessories, and design items Versatile for tank, brush, and pen/peg plating Works on various substrates after proper pretreatment Uniform, high-quality layers even on complex geometries Technical Parameters PropertyValue / RangeElectrolyte typeBlack ruthenium plating solutionpHslightly acidic to neutral (process-optimized)Operating temperature20–30 °CVoltage (tank plating)2–4 VVoltage (brush/pen plating)4–8 VCurrent density0.5–3 A/dm²Anode materialGraphite or platinum-coated anodeLayer thicknessvariable, depending on application (typically thin to medium)Surface appearancedark gray to black metallicLayer hardnessmedium to highCorrosion resistancegood to very good Values serve as practical guidelines; adjustments may be required depending on equipment and workpiece. Practical Application Tips Surface Preparation: Thoroughly clean and degrease the workpiece for optimal adhesion. Optionally chemically activate to remove oxides or passive layers. Black Ruthenium Plating: Operate the electrolyte at recommended parameters. Ensure even movement or circulation for uniform coating. Mask areas selectively if required.
