Properties "Platinum Electrode 6 mm

Platinum electrode (platinized titanium with a platinum layer of 2.5 µm platinum)

Ø 6 mm x 100 mm

Standard electrode for experiments in electrochemistry (electroplating, electrolysis, ion migration, determination of electrochemical potentials, etc.)

Spare platinum electrode for Hofmann decomposition apparatus, electrolyzer

Platinum-coated titanium anodes are among the classic anode materials for electroplating because they combine the excellent electrochemical properties of platinum with the good corrosion properties of titanium. They are characterized by a long service life at high current density and are versatile in use. They are equally suitable for platinum and ruthenium baths, for hard chrome plating, as bright rhodium baths and for cathodic corrosion protection. The standard platinum layer thickness is 2.5 μm.

In order to achieve the best results when plating with gold (adhesive gold bath, bright gold plating bath) or silver, they are indispensable.

This platinum electrode will more than meet your requirements, it hardly wears out and leaves no black spots or stains when plating. For top quality gold plating, I recommend using this electrode.

Gold Flash - Goldflash
Product information "Gold Flash" from Betzmann Galvanik   Gold Flash with 2 grams of gold per liter - wonderfully suitable as an intermediate layer or decorative layer.    The Gold Flash from Betzmann Galvanik has 2 main areas of application:   1. optical-decorative layer: Gold is soft and needs the addition of cobalt as a hard abrasion resistant top layer, which is not included in this product. Therefore, the gold layer from Goldflash appears somewhat lighter yellow. Parts that are not subject to any stress, such as souvenirs, horseshoes for decoration, etc., can be easily, directly and inexpensively gold-plated with the Goldflash.   Tip: You can first gild parts very intensively and thickly with the Goldflash and then coat them briefly with the 8 or 12 gram cobalt-displaced hard gold!   2. bonding primer for the following coatings: Many applications require thin layers of gold before actual plating. Until now, this was only possible with the use of 24 carat gold and was therefore quite costly. cost-intensive. This is now a thing of the past.  With the Goldflash from Betzmann Galvanik, you can now apply the desired gold layer.   As an example, direct silver plating of nickel is usually not feasible, so you can first gold plate with the Goldflash, then silver plate. Likewise, when using black chrome, rose gold plating, green gold plating, the gold flash serves as an optimal bonding base when copper or nickel cannot be applied directly! Also, gilding nickel, which naturally oxidizes, is very easy and spotless. Then chrome plating on Goldflash can be done even easier and without problems.   Despite gold plating, the material input is far below 10 cents per cm2 of surface!   Recommended electrode: platinum electrode, graphite electrode Voltage: from approx. 4 volts    Procedure: Polishing if necessary Degreasing Activate Goldflash Continue with the top layer chrome, white gold, rose gold, green gold   Feature Used for Allows electroplating of a thin layer of strongly adherent gold. Before applying another layer of plating, for example when silver or palladium plating on stainless steel, nickel and its alloys. 24 carat thin coats of gold: electronics, optics – reflectors – and where the item is going to be protected with a clear lacquer layer.   Operating Conditions and Deposit Data Voltage Range 4.0 – 6.0 volts Temperature 14 – 25 °C Gold Concentration 2g/l Electrode Platinum or Carbon (see notes) Gold content in plate 99.9% (balance carbon) Plating Rate at (5.0 volts, Platinum electrode) Approx. 0.12 micron per minute (spot) Hardness 180 – 190 Hv Density of deposit 19.0 g/cm3 Stress Low – medium stress Special storage requirements Away from sunlight Shelf life Over 3 years Notes: We strongly advise against the use of stainless steel anodes for most of our plating processes Plating rates are calculated over a sample area which is permanently covered by swab.    Features Used for Designed mainly as a base solution for mixing with our Coloured Gold Mixers Mixing with Yellow, White, Rose, and Green Gold Mixers and Brass Effect Gold Mixer. X Gold Strong Goldstrike 6 Gramm / L.
X-Gold - Goldstrike Strong: for Brush and Tank This plating solution performs the same function as Gold Strike Brush and Tank but has twice the gold content. It only plates slightly faster but has twice the coverage of Gold Strike Brush and Tank. It plates very adhesive layers on to difficult-to plate metals such as chrome, surgical steel and dental alloys. Standard swabs can be used with this solution, however for longer life we recommend using S-Type Swabs which can be purchased by clicking on the link in the ‘Related Products’ section below this panel. It is primarily used as an adhesive undercoat for other metals such as gold, silver, palladium and platinum.Gold Strike should not be plated over 0.1 micron. Brush plating voltage: 3 – 4 voltsPlating Factor (tank): 0.03 amp/cm2 (see Tech Specs) Gold concentration: 6 grams per litre   Our Gold Strike Xtra plates adherent layers of gold straight on to chrome without stripping and difficult to plate stainless steel alloys. The ‘Xtra’ means there’s 2 grams more of gold in it compared with our Gold Strike, so it plates at the same rate but has more than twice the coverage of Gold Strike. Particularly useful for plating super adherent key layers for subsequent plating of thick layers of gold of 3 microns and above. Please use a Carbon Electrode. Plates at the same rate but more than twice the coverage of Gold Strike Strike plates chromium, tungsten, dental alloys and more Recommended thickness: 0.1 micron   Voltage 3 – 4 volts Temperature 20 – 25 °C (see notes) Gold Concentration 6  g/l Electrode Carbon or platinum Gold content in plate 99% – 99.5% Plating Rate at (3 volts, Carbon Electrode, 20 °C) 0.07 micron per minute (spot) Plating Rate at (4 volts, Carbon Electrode, 20 °C) 0.09 micron per minute (spot) Recommended plating thickness 0.1 micron Coverage 10ml will cover 80 cm2 to 0.1 micron Hardness 185 Hv Density of deposit 19.3 g/cm3 Stress Not known Special storage requirements Away from sunlight Shelf life 1 – 2 years Health and Safety classification Harmful Special considerations None Transport (UN number) 2796   Notes: When plating in recesses, we recommend using the using the Plating Pen (8 – 10 volts, Fibre Nib). Smoky Nickel
Product Information Betzmann Electroplating - Black Nickel Electrolyte   Our black nickel electrolyte for galvanic blackening of metals   This new black nickel electrolyte conjures a dark to black surface directly on stainless steel, brass or copper! polish surface if necessary degrease and activate Black nickel plating from 3 volts optimal with platinum electrode!   Like all nickel electrolytes, this one is not suitable for coating metals worn on the skin! A special surface sealing is not necessary. Temperature resistance up to approx. 200 degrees!     In many cases, a base layer of normal nickel is recommended for components made of the metals mentioned for long durability, especially on copper and its alloys in outdoor applications. This increases the corrosion resistance and leads to better results. For this bright nickel layer we recommend the normal nickel Free. Before applying the Smoky Nickel, prepare the component with great care to achieve the best results. This includes, above all, thorough cleaning and absolutely grease-free surfaces. Therefore, remove all impurities such as dirt, flash rust and the like and use for our electrocleaner! Wear protective gloves already during the degreasing process to prevent skin grease from being deposited on the component.   The black nickel is suitable for use in bath electroplating as well as for pin electroplating. The following anodes are suitable for the smoky nickel: Nickel anodes Graphite anodes Platinum anodes Stainless steel anodes permitted for pin electroplating For plating, the anode is switched to positive and the workpiece to negative.   Observe the formation of gas bubbles closely during the electroplating process. If too many gas bubbles rise on the workpiece, the voltage must be reduced. This also applies if an intense black coloration appears in places. If no deposition occurs, the voltage is too low and must be carefully increased. All in all, deposition is slower with black nickel electrolytes than with normal nickel electrolytes.   Wear appropriate protective clothing throughout the process and ensure good room ventilation.   Parameters (these may vary, please test): Bath electroplating: 2-8V (approx. 3-5V recommended). Pin plating: 6-10V (approx. 6-8V recommended) Current density: 1-5 A/dm² Working temperature: 15-50°C pH value: approx. 4-5 (can be corrected e.g. with citric acid or sulfuric acid) Deposition rate: approx. 0.5μm/min at 2.5A/dm² and 20°.
