Anode pad / tampon / anode sleeve / fuzzy sleeve / replacement fabric pad puffy from Betzmann Galvanik. This puffy fabric pad / anode sleeve or also called tampon is absolutely recommended for all plating processes. Optimally suitable for all coatings and electrolytes. The coating of larger areas is also quite fast with this pad. The insertion hole is larger than the electrode and therefore it happens that the moist anode pad slips off. Therefore, fix the pad on the electrode with a small rubber band.

Black Nickel – Smoky Nickel Electrolyte BMG‑200.4 Decorative Black Nickel Electrolyte for Dark Metallic Surfaces Short Description The Black Nickel / Smoky Nickel Electrolyte BMG‑200.4 is a high-quality electroplating solution for producing dark, metallic black nickel coatings on conductive metal surfaces. It creates a deep, nearly black nickel finish with a metallic shimmer, offering both decorative and functional benefits. Black nickel is ideal for design-oriented, jewelry, and surface finishing applications where a modern look is desired. Applications Black nickel plating is used whenever a dark, contemporary metallic appearance is required, such as: Decorative finishes for design components Accessories, jewelry, and fashion hardware Consumer electronics and high-end goods Automotive and motorcycle parts with a stylish finish Components requiring a distinctive black nickel surface Compared with bright nickel or chrome, black nickel provides deeper color and a unique metallic effect. How Does Black Nickel Work? (Simple Explanation) Black nickel plating is an electrolytic process: Surface Preparation: Clean, degrease, and optionally polish the workpiece for a smooth base. Electroplating: Connect the part as the cathode (negative pole) in the Black Nickel bath. Deposition: When DC current is applied, nickel ions are reduced and deposit as a dark, uniform black layer. Finish: After plating, rinse and dry the parts to reveal the metallic black effect. Black nickel combines visual appeal with corrosion resistance and durability. Benefits of Black Nickel Electrolyte BMG‑200.4 Produces a deep black metallic surface Decorative and stylish for jewelry, accessories, and design items Provides corrosion resistance similar to conventional nickel plating Suitable for tank plating, brush plating, and pen plating Compatible with many substrates after proper pretreatment Easy to integrate into existing electroplating setups Technical Parameters PropertyValue / RangeElectrolyte typeBlack Nickel Plating SolutionOperating temperature20–30 °CVoltage (tank plating)1.5–4 VVoltage (brush/pen plating)3–7 VCurrent density0.5–3 A/dm²Anode materialNickel or graphiteLayer appearanceDark, metallic, smoky blackTypical layer thicknessThin to medium, decorativeCorrosion resistanceGood with proper pretreatmentSubstratesStainless steel, brass, copper, steel (pretreated) Note: Values are for practical guidance and may vary slightly depending on equipment and application. Practical Application Tips Pretreatment: Thorough cleaning, degreasing, and optional polishing improve adhesion and uniformity. Plating: Operate the electrolyte according to recommended parameters; maintain appropriate anode-to-cathode distance. Brush/Pen Plating: Move the plating stylus evenly to ensure consistent coverage. Post-treatment: Rinse with clean water and dry after plating. Safety Information Although Black Nickel is relatively safe to handle, it is a chemical solution that requires care: Wear chemical-resistant gloves, safety glasses, and protective clothing Avoid skin and eye contact Rinse thoroughly with water if contact occurs Use only in well-ventilated areas Do not ingest; keep out of reach of children Conclusion The Black Nickel / Smoky Nickel Electrolyte BMG‑200.4 provides a modern, deep black metallic finish with both decorative appeal and functional performance.
