Product information "Blue Chromating - Blue Passivation" from Betzmann Galvanik   Fields of application Blue chromating is used to protect existing zinc coatings or galvanically applied zinc coatings from oxidation and "tarnishing". It thus provides protection against zinc oxidation, but can hardly or not remove already existing oxidation. Furthermore, the slight yellowing caused by the brighteners of the Betzmann Galvanik zinc electrolyte after galvanizing can be removed by blue chromating. In this way, the galvanized objects are given a noble and visually appealing finish. In addition, chromating is often applied to aluminum workpieces. Chromating must be done as soon as possible after galvanizing, otherwise a passivation layer will form on the zinc, making chromating impossible. With an immersion time of only 15 s, the yellow coloration disappears (see above). As the immersion time increases (approx. 30 s), a slightly bluish shimmering surface develops. If the immersion time is even longer, a more matte effect can be achieved. This layer then also has the highest corrosion resistance, although it is not as shiny. The times mentioned are not binding, it also depends on the condition of the zinc coating, temperature, etc. Therefore, check regularly whether the result corresponds to your wishes. Important to know: the zinc layer is removed by chromating! However, a maximum of 2 µm after a dipping time of 4 min.   Safety advice Causes skin irritation. Causes severe eye irritation.  Wash hands thoroughly after use. Wear protective gloves / protective clothing / eye protection / face protection. Wear face protection. IF ON SKIN: Wash with plenty of water. If skin irritation occurs: Seek medical advice / medical attention. Remove contaminated clothing. IF IN EYES: Rinse cautiously with water for several minutes. Tin - Zinc Our latest development in alloy plating solutions is one that plates 70% tin and 30% zinc. Our tin zinc alloy plating solution is an environmentally friendly alternative to cadmium plating. It is two to three times more effective than cadmium and up to ten times better than zinc. It does not wear out so quickly, especially on rough or coarse surfaces. At the lower end there are 2 insertion holes for the anode rod up to 6mm (for 8mm you can enlarge the holes with scissors or a knife. If this has already worked its way through the fabric at the top, you can continue to use the anode fabric pad by inserting it into the other insertion hole. Please soak the pad thoroughly before use, otherwise it will not conduct. Scope of delivery: 1 piece!

Anode pad / tampon / anode sleeve / fuzzy sleeve / replacement fabric pad puffy from Betzmann Galvanik.    This puffy fabric pad / anode sleeve or also called tampon is absolutely recommended for all plating processes. Optimally suitable for all coatings and electrolytes.  The coating of larger areas is also quite fast with this pad.   The insertion hole is larger than the electrode and therefore it happens that the moist  anode pad slips off. Therefore, fix the pad on the electrode with a small rubber band.
