Yellow Chromate Conversion Coating – Chromium(III) Yellow Passivation for Zinc & Zinc-Plated Parts

Yellow Chromate Conversion Coating – Chromium(III) Yellow Passivation for Zinc & Zinc-Plated PartsProfessional Yellow Passivation for Zinc – Gold-Colored Corrosion Protection without Chromium(VI)The Yellow Chromate Conversion Coating / Yellow Passivation is a premium Chromium(III)-based conversion coating developed to produce an attractive golden yellow to brass-colored protective finish on zinc and zinc-plated components. Besides its decorative appearance, the passivation significantly improves the corrosion resistance of zinc surfaces.Unlike the traditional Chromium(VI) yellow chromate process, this modern formulation is based on Chromium(III) and is completely free of highly toxic Chromium(VI). It offers a safer and more environmentally friendly alternative while achieving a finish that closely resembles the classic yellow chromate coating. The resulting coating produces the characteristic golden-yellow, slightly iridescent appearance traditionally found on vintage automotive hardware, fasteners, and mechanical components, making it especially popular for classic car restoration, motorcycle restoration, engineering, and decorative metal finishing.ApplicationsThe Yellow Passivation is ideal for:Zinc-plated componentsZinc surfacesScrewsNutsWashersFastenersBracketsAutomotive partsClassic car restorationMotorcycle restorationMechanical componentsIndustrial partsModel engineeringDecorative metal finishingSuitable for:Restoration specialistsClassic car workshopsElectroplating companiesMetal fabrication workshopsIndustrial usersProfessional workshopsHobby usersProduct BenefitsAttractive golden yellow to brass-colored finishCharacteristic iridescent appearanceChromium(III)-based technologyCompletely free of Chromium(VI)Improved corrosion protectionSimple immersion processNo power supply requiredNo electrodes requiredReady-to-use solutionUniform conversion coatingDecorative and protective finishIdeal as a final treatment after zinc platingHow It WorksThe Yellow Passivation is applied directly after zinc plating.Simply immerse the clean zinc-plated workpiece into the ready-to-use passivation solution.Within only a few minutes, a decorative Chromium(III) conversion coating forms on the surface.Depending on the immersion time, different color shades can be achieved:Light yellowGolden yellowBrass-coloredSlightly iridescent finishThe color intensity can easily be adjusted by shortening or extending the immersion time.Application NotesDuring the conversion coating process, a small amount of zinc is chemically converted. Therefore, the zinc coating should have a minimum thickness of 2 µm before passivation.Once the desired color has been achieved, remove the workpiece from the solution and rinse thoroughly with distilled water.Allow the coating to dry completely to achieve maximum corrosion resistance and optimum color development.Suitable Base MaterialsThe Yellow Passivation is designed exclusively for:Zinc-plated steelZinc surfacesElectroplated zinc coatingsPreviously blue-passivated zinc componentsFreshly zinc-plated workpiecesPreviously blue-passivated zinc parts can also be converted into an attractive golden-yellow finish.Typical ApplicationsFrequently used for:Classic car restorationVintage motorcycle restorationAutomotive restorationScrews and fastenersMechanical engineeringIndustrial componentsDecorative hardwareModel engineeringReplacement partsMetal finishingAvailable VersionsReady-to-use Yellow Chromate Conversion Coating / Yellow PassivationAvailable in various container sizesQuality from Betzmann GalvanikBetzmann Galvanik supplies professional surface finishing solutions for decorative and industrial electroplating applications. Zinc Plate Electrode

Zinc Anode / Plate Electrode (SW10071) Short Description The Zinc Anode / Plate Electrode is a flat sacrificial anode made from high-purity zinc (Zn ≥ 99.8 %), designed for electroplating processes that require uniform, protective zinc coatings. It supplies zinc ions steadily into the electrolyte, promoting stable plating conditions and consistent deposit quality.  Product Description This plate electrode is made from high-purity zinc and features a flat, broad geometry (approx. 50 × 80 mm for the M size) with a thickness of about 0.7 mm, making it suitable for plating larger surface areas evenly. As a sacrificial anode, zinc dissolves in a controlled manner, helping to maintain the metal content of the bath and provide stable plating conditions.  The large active surface makes this electrode particularly suitable for bath electroplating with zinc electrolytes, ensuring uniform current distribution and improved coating quality. Typical Applications Electroplating of zinc for corrosion protection Bath plating for decorative or functional zinc finishes Plating of larger components requiring even coverage Workshop, laboratory, and educational electroplating processes Key Benefits High-purity zinc (≥ 99.8 %): supports clean, reproducible results Broad plate design: improves current distribution across surfaces Ideal for zinc electrolyte baths: enhances plating consistency Controlled electrolyte regeneration: maintains bath composition Simple to integrate: suitable for various electroplating setups Usage Instructions Preparation: Thoroughly clean and degrease the workpiece; activate if required. Placement: Position the zinc plate electrode as the anode (positive terminal) in the electrolyte, with the workpiece as the cathode. Plating: Set current and voltage according to the specific zinc electrolyte — typically low volt ranges are used. Maintenance: Clean the electrode periodically to remove oxide buildup and maintain performance. Conclusion The Zinc Anode / Plate Electrode is an efficient sacrificial anode designed for consistent and uniform zinc electroplating. Its large active surface and high material purity make it suitable for hobby, workshop, and professional electroplating applications alike.
