Bright Nickel Electrolyte – Ready-to-Use Nickel Plating Solution for Tank, Pen and Brush Plating
Professional Bright Nickel Electrolyte for Highly Glossy, Corrosion-Resistant and Wear-Resistant Nickel Coatings
The Bright Nickel Electrolyte from Betzmann Galvanik is a premium-quality, ready-to-use electroplating solution developed for depositing brilliant, highly reflective nickel coatings. It is suitable for both decorative and technical electroplating applications and can be used in tank plating, pen plating, and brush plating.
The deposited nickel coatings provide excellent corrosion protection, high hardness, outstanding adhesion, and a bright silver-like finish with the characteristic warm tone of pure nickel. Bright nickel is widely used both as an attractive decorative finish and as a functional intermediate layer for subsequent precious metal coatings.
This professional electrolyte is suitable for hobby users, workshops, jewelry manufacturers, restoration specialists, and industrial electroplating applications.

Excellent Corrosion Protection and Decorative Finish
Nickel is one of the most important electroplating metals worldwide. Even relatively thin nickel coatings significantly improve corrosion resistance while protecting metal surfaces against humidity, water, air, diluted acids, and alkaline solutions.
For maximum corrosion protection, the classic plating sequence is recommended:
Copper → Bright Nickel → Chromium
This combination produces an exceptionally durable, highly reflective, and wear-resistant surface.
Bright nickel can also be used as a decorative final finish without an additional chromium layer.
Ideal Diffusion Barrier
Bright nickel is frequently used as an effective diffusion barrier between copper and precious metal coatings. It prevents migration of base metals into the final coating and maintains long-term colour stability.
It is the ideal intermediate layer before:
Gold plating
Rose gold plating
White gold plating
Silver plating
Palladium plating
Rhodium plating
Black rhodium plating
Ruthenium plating
Chromium plating
Suitable Base Materials
Suitable for plating:
Steel
Iron
Copper
Brass
Bronze
Silver
Gold
Nickel
Nickel alloys
Stainless steel should first be activated using a suitable Nickel Strike to ensure excellent adhesion.
Not suitable for direct plating on:
Aluminium
Titanium
Chromium
Zinc
These materials require appropriate pretreatment or specialised intermediate coatings.
Application
Before plating, all workpieces should be thoroughly cleaned, degreased, and, where necessary, derusted.
For best results, follow these preparation steps:
Clean
Degrease
Activate
Nickel plate
Rinse
Apply additional decorative coatings if required
The use of a Nickel Anode is highly recommended to maintain a constant nickel concentration and maximise electrolyte service life.
The magnetic properties of ferromagnetic workpieces remain unchanged after nickel plating.
