High-Speed Gold with 12 g/L Fine Gold

With a gold concentration of 12 g/L, BMG-072 is a high-performance gold electrolyte designed for applications requiring efficient deposition and rapid layer build-up.

The high gold concentration makes the electrolyte particularly suitable for professional users who regularly plate larger quantities of components or larger surface areas and require a combination of high productivity, efficient deposition and consistent coating quality.

Suitable Electrodes – Platinum or Graphite

BMG-072 can be operated using platinum or graphite electrodes.

Platinum Electrode

Platinum is a highly resistant electrode material and is particularly suitable for professional electroplating applications.

A platinum electrode provides stable and reliable current transfer and is suitable for regular use in bath, pen and tampon plating.

Graphite Electrode

Alternatively, a graphite electrode can be used.

Graphite offers good electrical conductivity and high chemical resistance, making it a suitable anode material for BMG-072.

Recommended electrode materials: Platinum or Graphite.

Bath Plating

For bath plating, the component to be plated is connected as the cathode (negative pole).

The platinum or graphite electrode is connected as the anode (positive pole).

Recommended Procedure

  1. Mechanically prepare and, if required, polish the component.

  2. Thoroughly degrease the surface.

  3. Activate the surface according to the base material.

  4. Rinse thoroughly.

  5. Place the component into the gold electrolyte.

  6. Position the platinum or graphite anode.

  7. Check all electrical connections.

  8. Set a suitable voltage and current density.

  9. Build up the gold layer according to the desired coating thickness.

  10. Thoroughly rinse and dry the component after plating.

Proper surface preparation is essential for achieving good adhesion, uniform deposition and a high-quality appearance.

Pen and Tampon Plating

BMG-072 is also suitable for local gold plating using pen or tampon electroplating.

This method is particularly useful for:

  • Repair plating

  • Partial surfaces

  • Edges and contours

  • Small components

  • Difficult-to-access areas

  • Re-plating

  • Localized coatings

  • Mobile electroplating applications

During tampon plating, the electrolyte is transferred to the workpiece through a suitable anode pad or tampon.

This allows the gold deposit to be applied precisely to the required area.

Surface Preparation

High-quality gold plating requires thorough surface preparation.

The surface should be:

  • Clean

  • Free from grease

  • Free from oxides

  • Free from polishing residues

  • Electrically conductive

  • Properly activated according to the base material

Proper surface preparation is one of the most important factors for achieving a uniform, well-adhering and visually attractive gold coating.

For sensitive or difficult base materials, a suitable intermediate coating system should be used.

MetaSeal - Metal Care

The metal care product is used for cleaning and polishing surfaces.    With the metal care almost all types of surfaces (except textiles) can be cleaned, treated and sealed with little effort and completely without water! Metal Care from Betzmann Galvanik does not contain acids or alkalis. It is ph-neutral and slowly biodegradable. It is even machine applicable by means of an eccentric polishing machine.      Some examples of use:  Car, boat, motorcycle, bicycle, kitchen, bathroom, ceramics, glass, leather, imitation leather, amarture board, plastic, camper, stainless steel, chrome, glass panes, TV, monitors, glasses, helmets, tiles, mirrors, shoe sole sides,  cell phone displays, store counters, high-gloss fronts, foiling (matt/glossy), advertising and company signs, solar systems, solariums, whirlpools, pools, rims, ovens, acrylic glass, ceramic hobs, CNC machines, chrome fixtures in the bathroom and much more.      Application:  Shake bottle briefly before use. Apply the metal care to the object to be treated and distribute/massage.  Then polish or wipe the lotion away with a clean microfiber cloth.  It can be applied by hand or by machine. For machine application, the care product can be used like a normal polish. For this purpose, apply the agent to the machine polishing attachment and process with gentle pressure. Then polish or wipe off the lotion with a clean microfiber cloth. or wipe clean. Due to its additional cleaning function, the metal care replaces a large number of polishes for automotive reconditioners. Smooth surfaces appear  after the application in their original shine and are sealed (Lotus effect). Dull lacquers are beautifully matt again after application and dirt and grease residues are grease residues are removed. Glass panes become streak-free clean after application and less susceptible to soiling (sealed).  With each new or further application, the protective film/sealing is further built up and the pores in the surface are closed. The product does not contain chalk or wax ingredients like common polishes. Thus also plastics can be polished effortlessly and appear again in the old shine (no white stripes or residues on plastic). The sealing usually lasts between 2-8 weeks (depending on the area of application and stress on the polished object). object).    Notice:  The product should not necessarily be used in the blazing sun, otherwise it may happen that you have to work harder to polish up the product One should also not use the metal care on smooth floors, as this surface then becomes even smoother and possible slipping danger exists.

Flat Platinum Electrode

Flat Platinum Electrode (BMG‑032‑PL) Short Description The Flat Platinum Electrode (BMG‑032‑PL) is a wide, platinum‑coated electrode on a titanium base, designed for electroplating applications where large, relatively flat surfaces need fast, even coverage. It is especially effective when a standard cylindrical electrode is too small.  Product Description This electrode features a flat platinum‑coated surface on titanium, with an active plating area of approximately 4 × 4 cm. The platinum finish provides excellent chemical resistance, high conductivity and long service life in electroplating baths. Because of its broad active area, it enables faster and more uniform plating on larger flat surfaces compared to smaller round electrodes.  Compared to graphite or stainless steel electrodes, the platinum surface minimizes unwanted contamination and delivers cleaner, higher‑quality deposits, making it ideal for demanding plating tasks.  Typical Applications Electroplating large, flat surfaces such as signs, rims, plates or panels Selective plating by masking surrounding areas Workshop, laboratory or commercial plating tasks that require uniform coverage Combined use with pads or swabs for broader contact plating  Key Benefits Large active area: ensures even current distribution for broad coverage Platinum coating: chemically stable and ideal for clean, high‑quality deposits Faster deposition: reduces plating time compared to smaller electrodes Consistent results: uniform layers and reproducible outcomes Flexible compatibility: suitable for gold and other precious metal electrolytes  Usage Instructions Preparation: Thoroughly clean and degrease the workpiece; activate surface if needed. Placement: Position the flat platinum electrode in the electrolyte to cover the target area. Plating: Connect to the power supply and maintain voltage within the recommended range for even coverage. Masking: Mask adjacent areas when plating only specific regions. Aftercare: Rinse with clean water and dry after the process; optional polishing enhances finish. Conclusion The Flat Platinum Electrode (BMG‑032‑PL) is an effective, professional‑grade solution for consistent, high‑quality plating of broad surfaces. Its combination of a large active area and platinum’s chemical stability makes it a reliable choice for hobbyists, workshops, and professional electroplating operations.
