Product description "Graphite plate electrode".

Graphite plate electrode for bath electroplating

highly compressed ("isostatically pressed"), wear-resistant fine-grain graphite

excellent conductivity and chemical resistance

plate thickness 4 mm

available in sizes 50 x 80 mm, 100 x 150 mm and 170 x 200 mm

for bath electroplating and electrolysis, use: electrolytic cleaning, gold plating, silver plating, chrome plating, degreasing

as working or shielding surface for high temperature applications

Graphite electrodes are generally used in plating with chrome, copper, white bronze, rose gold, green gold, black chrome, black ruthenium, black rhodium, activation.

Actually, the graphite electrode is ultimate for all coatings.

The advantage is that in some coatings with stainless steel electrodes, the dislodged metal parts disturb the coating. This does not happen with graphite electrodes, because graphite

also filters out contaminated liquids.  They also need to be replaced occasionally as they slowly dissolve during coating.

Features Used for
Doesn’t contaminate Cleaner Activating and electro-cleaning
Its resistive properties help to heat the solution you’re plating with Chromium plating, which needs to be plated at 25 degrees celsius; its natural heating action helps to maintain the solution’s optimal temperature
Low cost Can be used for all plating processes but carbon electrodes deteriorate over a period of time and discolour swabs (discolouration does not affect the plating quality)

Rosegold Solution 18 Karat
Rosegold Solution from Betzmann Galvanik This Rose Gold Brush/Pen Plating Solution (18 Karat) doesn’t have to be mixed beforehand. It can be used for both brush and pen plating. You can use either the Platinum Electrode (2.5 – 3.0 volts) or the Carbon Electrode (2.0 – 2.5 volts) with this solution. One of the outstanding qualities of the solution is that it plates very fast compared to other brush plating solutions. You can compare the plating rates using our online brush plating calculator on the links bar above.   Failure to observe the above precautions will result in the degeneration of the gold component in the solution. This will cause copper-rich plating, which will tarnish quickly.   Please see below for more products related to Rose Gold Brush/Pen Plating Solution (18 Karat). Recommended electrode: Carbon, Voltage: 3 – 3.5     Gold Concentration 9.1g/l Voltage Range (Platinum Electrode) 2.5 – 3.0 volts* Voltage Range (Carbon Electrode) 2.0 – 2.5 volts* Electrode Carbon Alloy consistency (at mix ratio 1Mixer:10 K-Gold) 75% Gold, 25% Copper Colour designation 5N Temperature 20 – 25 °C Plating Rate at (3.3 volts, carbon electrode) Approx. 0.5 microns per minute (max) Hardness Hard: In excess of 250 – 300 Hv Density of deposit 14.4 g/cm3 Stress Medium Special storage requirements Away from sunlight Shelf life 1-2 years (please refer to notes below) Health and Safety classification Irritant Special considerations None (cyanide-free) Transport (UN number) None: Not classified as dangerous for transport * The lower voltage range should be applied when using smaller swabs. Notes: Remove any existing layers of rose gold before plating. Store in hermetically sealed container with lid firmly closed. Small volumes for day-day use should be stored in a stoppered syringe. Higher voltages can be used with plating rates in excess of 3 micronsper minute (spot).A lower voltage range is recommended when plating above 1 micron to preventdullness and subsequent polishing.

Palladium 10 Gramm per Liter
Palladium Solution from Betzmann Galvanik with 10 Gramm per Liter - as nickel substitute - barrier layer or as hard decorative top layer!    Palladium electrolyte - The allergen-free alternative to nickel! Palladinizing or plating with palladium is a rather rarely used galvanic coating. However, palladium plating can offer some advantages, especially as a substitute for galvanic nickel plating with a nickel electrolyte.  The advantages of palladium electrolyte compared to electroless nickel plating: Typically, a nickel electrolyte is used to apply a barrier layer of nickel between copper and gold, preventing the two metals from mixing. However, a palladium plating offers several distinct advantages over the nickel electrolyte: Palladium is more noble than nickel, meaning there is no surface corrosion, and the palladium does NOT require extra activation prior to gold plating as nickel does. The deposition rate and efficiency are excellent, i.e. there is no unwanted gas evolution. The electrolyte deposits silvery white, very bright palladium which can be used as a bright "finish". Gold plating with the Betzmann gold electrolyte for pin electroplating achieves an optimum result on palladium. In contrast to nickel electrolyte, palladium is not carcinogenic and is therefore also permitted for private users!  A very good combination for gold plating of almost all metals is:  Alkaline or acid copper depending on the metal, palladium and finally gold.  All necessary electrolytes are available in our store. Palladium can be plated on the following metals:  Copper, nickel, brass, silver, gold, on all dechromed surfaces.   Recommended voltages:  Pen - Brush electroplating: from 3 volts - Bath electroplating: 3 - 4 volts. Recommended is graphite electrode or platinum electrode from our store. Palladium content: 10 grams per liter   Main benefits;  Makes a great alternative to rhodium plating giving an authentic 18 carat white gold or platinum plated look. palladium plating solution (unlike rhodium) doesn’t etch materials made of calcium carbonate such as pearl and coral, so you won’t have to worry about masking out these materials before submerging them in your palladium plating bath. can be used as a substitute for nickel as a barrier layer for gold plating on copper and its alloys. can be used as an alternative to silver as it doesn’t tarnish and is hard-wearing. Very low porosity – excellent for corrosion protection. Readily wettable by solder and dissolves a lot more slowly than gold in the solder making it an excellent top coat over gold for electrical contacts. Operating Parameters and Deposit Data   Voltage Range 3.0 – 3.5 Temperature 18 – 25 °C Palladium Concentration 10g/l Electrode Carbon or Platinum Palladium content in plate 99.9% (balance carbon, nitrogen) Lightness (L*) of deposit 65 (Cielab) Plating Rate at (3.5 volts, carbon electrode) 0.6 micron per minute Hardness 488 Hv Density of deposit 11.85 g/cm3 Stress Stressed Special storage requirements None Shelf life 1 – 2 years Health and Safety classification Irritant Special considerations None Transport (UN number) None: Not classified as dangerous for transport       Signalword: Warning    H-phrases: H332 Harmful by inhalation. Smoky Nickel
Product Information Betzmann Electroplating - Black Nickel Electrolyte   Our black nickel electrolyte for galvanic blackening of metals   This new black nickel electrolyte conjures a dark to black surface directly on stainless steel, brass or copper! polish surface if necessary degrease and activate Black nickel plating from 3 volts optimal with platinum electrode!   Like all nickel electrolytes, this one is not suitable for coating metals worn on the skin! A special surface sealing is not necessary. Temperature resistance up to approx. 200 degrees!     In many cases, a base layer of normal nickel is recommended for components made of the metals mentioned for long durability, especially on copper and its alloys in outdoor applications. This increases the corrosion resistance and leads to better results. For this bright nickel layer we recommend the normal nickel Free. Before applying the Smoky Nickel, prepare the component with great care to achieve the best results. This includes, above all, thorough cleaning and absolutely grease-free surfaces. Therefore, remove all impurities such as dirt, flash rust and the like and use for our electrocleaner! Wear protective gloves already during the degreasing process to prevent skin grease from being deposited on the component.   The black nickel is suitable for use in bath electroplating as well as for pin electroplating. The following anodes are suitable for the smoky nickel: Nickel anodes Graphite anodes Platinum anodes Stainless steel anodes permitted for pin electroplating For plating, the anode is switched to positive and the workpiece to negative.   Observe the formation of gas bubbles closely during the electroplating process. If too many gas bubbles rise on the workpiece, the voltage must be reduced. This also applies if an intense black coloration appears in places. If no deposition occurs, the voltage is too low and must be carefully increased. All in all, deposition is slower with black nickel electrolytes than with normal nickel electrolytes.   Wear appropriate protective clothing throughout the process and ensure good room ventilation.   Parameters (these may vary, please test): Bath electroplating: 2-8V (approx. 3-5V recommended). Pin plating: 6-10V (approx. 6-8V recommended) Current density: 1-5 A/dm² Working temperature: 15-50°C pH value: approx. 4-5 (can be corrected e.g. with citric acid or sulfuric acid) Deposition rate: approx. 0.5μm/min at 2.5A/dm² and 20°. Rosegold Mixer
Rosegold Mixer - Betzmann Galvanoshop: Simply add Rose Gold Mixer to K-Gold to plate fabulously warm, lustrous tones of rose gold. All you need to do is mix the two together to create just the right amount of solution you need. We recommend you buy the mixing kit to make sure you measure out the correct ratios.A 1:10 mix will give you a darker shade of rose gold commonly used for eastern European jewellery, while a mix of 2:10 gives a mix not too dissimilar to highly polished pure copper, however this one does not tarnish. If plating on to stainless steel, nickel or its alloys, first plate a layer of 24 carat gold or Goldflash to give a good, solid base on which to plate your Rose Gold layer.   Features Used for Rose gold plate is very hard compared to pure gold. Great for plating items subject to a high-wear environment (jewellery). Plates fast. Reduces plating time. When mixed with K-Gold, creates the classic warm tones of rose gold. Selective plating of a range of personal items for example jewellery and watch cases and straps. Can be used on larger items such as silverware and picture frames. Redder deposits can be obtained by increasing the volume of mixer. Greater flexibility in colour matching. Consistency of alloy throughout process sequence. Very useful especially when plating large work or plating to higher thickness: the shade of gold plated doesn’t change.   Instructions for use Carbon Electrode3 – 3.5 volts20 – 25 centigrade Ratio of Rosegold Mixer to K-Gold Shade Produced   Remarks 1:10 Yellow-red shade   18 carat alloy (75% gold, 25% copper). Activator
Galvano activator and decapping agent in one - stainless steel and nickel activator in one - from Betzmann GalvanikThe GALVANO AKTIVATOR from Betzmann Galvanik removes oxide layers on base metals to enable electroplating or electroless plating. The electroplating activator is required, for example, for electroless nickel plating of aluminium or to activate stainless steel, nickel, brass and chrome for electroplating.Discover the versatile application of the activator or decapping agent in electroplating! The activator / decapping agent is an indispensable aid for the decapping and preparation of surfaces before plating in the electroplating industry. It is used to activate surfaces of metals such as steel, copper and copper alloys as well as passive nickel layers. Decapitation removes impurities from surfaces and simultaneously prepares them for the plating process. This process is crucial to ensure optimum adhesion and durability of the coating. After alkaline pre-treatment, the decapping agent is also perfect for neutralising. It ensures that work with sulphuric or hydrochloric acid is no longer necessary, which not only increases efficiency but also improves work safety. With Betzmann Galvanik's decapping agent, you can effectively pre-treat the surface of your products to achieve high-quality electroplated coatings. Rely on its proven performance to optimise your electroplating processes and achieve outstanding results.Field of application: Pre-treatment and cleaner - General applicationThe object is either immersed in the activator for 30 to 60 seconds and then briefly rinsed with clear water or coated with the pad for at least 30 seconds from 2.7 volts. The activator removes thin layers of oxide that are invisible to the naked eye. Carry out further coating quickly after the activator bath, as these layers quickly form again with atmospheric oxygen (time period: max. 10 - 30 minutes) Recommended electrode: Stainless steel electrode or graphite electrode!  Recommended voltage: from 2.7 volts Regulation (EC) No. 1272/2008 Signal word: Warning Pictograms: H319 Causes serious eye irritation Hazard statements P280 Wear protective gloves/protective clothing/eye protection/face protection. White Bronze Mixer
White Bronze Mixer  Just like the other ‘mixer solutions’ we sell, Bronze Mixer can be added to our new copper solution to create a beautiful shade of freshly cast bronze. This brand new solution, exclusive to Real Gold, has been introduced as a replacement for nickel plating solution. Nickel is now banned by the EU for use in the cosmetic industry, as it causes nickel allergy in some people. White Bronze is the ideal substitute for nickel plate, where the surface of the metal is likely to come into contact with the skin, such as on costume jewellery or on spectacle frames. The main uses are listed below. A replacement for nickel to stop nickel allergy. Replaces nickel for use as a barrier layer when electroplating gold onto copper or brass. Makes an excellent key layer when plating silver onto pewter, Britannia metal or other high-tin alloys. Is similar in hardness to nickel with the electrical properties of silver but with superior corrosion resistance. White bronze makes an excellent undercoat forblack chrome. As with our other mixer solutions, you have the same flexibility to create the exact shade of bronze you require. At a low mix ratio it plates an attractive gold shade (2N) of bronze, a white, tarnish resistant coating which resembles nickel. The highest ratio is more like bright chrome.     Features Used for When mixed with our Copper Plating Solution to create white bronze, can be used as a replacement for nickel to comply with EU legislation and avoid nickel allergy Plating any items that will be handled or otherwise come into regular contact with the skin, for example jewellery, lighters and musical instruments Non-tarnish and silver-like in appearance Can be used as a low-cost, tarnish resistant alternative to silver plate for example when repairing musical instruments or up-cycling silver plated antiques Effective as a barrier layer Can be used for plating on non-conductive surfaces; makes an excellent barrier layer between copper/brass and gold – ideal for plating on non-conductive surfaces Base coat Plating an excellent undercoat for black chrome and when plating silver onto pewter, Britannia metal or other high-tin alloys.   Mixing ratio; 1 part Copper Plating Solution to 2 parts White Bronze Mixer – leave to stand for 15 minutes before using     Kennzeichnung gem.
